    Default Hiking pants

What does everyone here wear for pants this time of year while hiking? When the start of the hike in the morning can be cold, but it can get up into the 40's or 50's during the day while hiking.

I normally just wear shorts when I hike, but I have predominantly hiked in just the summer. I would like to make another trip or two before snow flies or it gets even colder. I am thinking something lightweight that can go over shorts, or something lightweight that can be converted to shorts. I get warmed up pretty easy while hiking and can sweat a lot. So I don't want to get overheated and start getting all wet.

    Any ideas/suggestions would be appreciated.

This time of year I still use convertible pants. Usually I do not remove the lower legs in the colder weather, but if you get warm quickly, you can just zip them off and you would be fine.

I never want to see a day
    That's over forty degrees
    I'd rather have it thirty,
Twenty, ten, five and let it freeeeEEEEEEeeze!
