Hole Punch Clouds
The trans-Atlantic flights were doing a number on the cirrus clouds early this afternoon. While not perfect "hole punches" the cirrus clouds were parted in at least a half dozen locations from the passage of jets. Sorry about the photos, taken from my iPhone in some pretty harsh light.
The first photo shows three separate punches. The second image shows one long, continuous cut through the cirrus layer.

I saw this a bit on a small scale up during my driving-around-workday in Suffield.
