Record Highs...by a LARGE margin...

Just looked at the F6 data for the month and was shocked by the readings the past few days...

Yesterday's record high of 56 beat the olde record of 42 by 14 degrees! That's crazy!

I was watching that, too, Jim, pretty incredible heat.

But then, last night April 3, I had both spring peepers and woodfrogs in chorus, and THAT has never happened this early before, either. The earliest I've EVER had peepers and woodfrogs at this location has been 4/ 24, so that is fully three weeks early.

I'm not holding my breath that the bubble won't pop, because it's not going to be a pretty sight when/if we get a plowable snowstorm or hard freeze after this kind of early thaw. For heaven sake, I've got blossom buds on 2 pear trees, and that doesn't make me a happy camper.

Regardless of the feel of the weather out there right now, this is far to early to be putting away the snow shovel.

I'm not even considering raking out the perennial beds. I know what is waking up and they can just keep their blankets on their beds for a while longer.

On the CT coast we were in the low 60s most of the day Saturday then a sea breeze kicked in late afternoon and put us back in the 40s. Awoke to a nice marine layer this morning and temps around 50. Clouds burned off around 9 and now we are close to 70, no marine influence today...so California.

This heat wave has been remarkable, especially at the higher elevations. Saranac Lake was in the 80s on Saturday. Those are mid-summer temps for Mount Washington. Bare and dark ground and no forest canopy allows for very warm temperatures when the conditions are right, as for what happened on MWN, not sure I know how that happened.

I was up on Mt Washington this Saturday and overheard a lady that was working at the observatory say the the record high for the summit for all of April was beat around 12am that morning! Was a very nice day for lunch at the top. Got a little to much sun tho!

Wow the temps are amazing. We waterskied on Friday and Saturday here in Maine and it was wonderful. The water temp was 50 F on Friday and 54 F on Saturday.

Sorry, but you either misheard our one and only female employee Stacey or just overheard some random stranger as the monthly high for April is 60F and all we reached on Saturday was 56F and 54F for Friday. The daily high was broken around midnight though, so maybe you melded that with the monthly high that was projected to possibly be broken that day according to our weather models. Even though they were both just daily highs that were broken, it was warm with Sats. high shattering the previous record of 42F since the early 1980s. I was up Fri. and it felt like July more than April up there.
