I wonder who the national recording artist will be at the concert on Friday. Hope they announce it soon. Too bad they couldn't play Saturday at the dinner party. That way everyone could go to bed early and hit the trail early.

Perhaps a Saturday evening concert after the dinner could be considered for next year? Then everyone could get to bed early the night before the hike.

I also think that it would make a LOT more sense to hold the concert on Saturday right after (if not during) the dinner party. Then we are in a mood to relax and enjoy. Friday night one needs to get to bed at a halfway descent hour in order to be up bright and early Saturday for a full day of rugged hiking. One wonders what they where thinking.

Hi folks,

Thought I'd pipe in with a quick comment.... We added the concert on Friday night in an effort to grow the event within our capabilities and involve the local community much, much more than we ever have before. The concert will accommodate as many as 4,000 people, and will be one of North Conway's biggest events this summer.

We debated Friday vs. Saturday, but with our very small event staff and Saturday's already demanding schedule (not to mention 500 exhausted hikers), we opted to have it relatively early Friday evening, with the opening act at 6 PM and the headliner wrapping up by 9:30.

Concert tickets are free for each individual STP hiker. Not every hiker can or will attend, but we think that STP hikers would still feel good about it if they chose to leave the concert early or skip it altogether, since there is no out of pocket expense for the ticket.

So there's our thought process... We think it will be an enormous success!

We'll be announcing the acts and start selling tickets to the public next week.
