    Default Big Daddy lives!!!

My good ole freind Big Daddy has survived another hunting season and winter! I'd guess his age to be at least 12. It's spring tradition of mine to see him for the first time in spring. I see him occasionally throughout the spring and summer, but then he changes his ways before hunting season and I never see him again until spring. I always wonder where he hangs out in autumn and winter.

He's a good looking bull moose. Glad he survived to roam the woods for another year.

I, too, have gotten to look forward to your spring time shot of Big Daddy. I am sure he knows who you are.

Patrick, do you wonder if Big Daddy wonders where you hang out in autumn and winter?

I don't know how accurate this is, but I seem to recall reading somewhere that although the average life expectancy of a bull moose is about 7 years, many moose live into their late teens. So, since this guy isn't quite a teenager yet, hopefully there'll be many more years that you two can exchange Spring greetings!

Hah! I like it! Thanks for nice comments, everyone.

Here's a shot I really like. I've been waiting for him in a couple of the places I see him. Then finally he appeared. It was really uplifting to see him appear from out of the cover of the forest and into the bog. I immediately knew it was him because of the single battle notch on the back side of his right ear. He saw me and stopped and I talked to him as I always do. Then he strutted right toward me. Just awesome...
