Does anyone have experience using DeLorme Maps ( CD) to hike? Seems like a good deal, you get all states for $79? The National Geo maps do not zoom down all the way for a regional map from what I have read. Any comments appreciated.

Your primary source of information should be the AMC Guide book. Then the Topo USA software from Delorme actually is pretty good. I calculate distance and look at profiles to compare different options.
Here is an example (not zoomed in all the way).

Yeah I definately will carry a guide book if one is available for that area. I mostly hike NY and have the guide book for the east. However the new books do not include a map. Instead they suggest the Nat Geo maps which I heard the scale is not so good. I would rather print out my own maps for the area at a scale I can read easily. Also is there a good guidebook for Green Mts?
