Great Photos, Living in New England my whole life and never been to the Mountain. Will have to go with in the year, when is the best time to go?
Thanks,
Mark
Mark, are you thinking of hiking - or driving up? Most folks hike between the end of June and Labor Day. Before that the trails are very wet and slippery with snow melting. After Labor Day the winds pick up and it gets cold. But, general rules do not work on Mt Washington. You can get snow any time of the year and September and the beginning of October can give us wonderful hiking days (though they are shorter).
So, the real answer is July and August is the main hiking season. You still have to watch the weather. If you read the book "Not Without Peril" there is a list in the back of folks who have died on the mountain and many are in July and August. In most cases they were not prepared for the weather conditions.
