Default In need of rescue on top of Mt Washington mid winter???

I know that all of the facilities on top of Mt Washington are closed to the public during the winter, but if someone was in need of rescue and close to the top could they crawl over there and bang on a window or something? Would you guys even here them? I've been up there in the winter and it looks pretty baron, I didn't see lights on inside or anything. I've been hiking in the White since I was young because I grew up in southern NH, and my friends and I have often discussed this question. I just found this website and you guys seem like the perfect people to ask.
    Thank You.

Others may add comments here too. The summit is a NH State park and the building belongs to them. They have folks up there - but, the chances of being heard are pretty slim. I am sure if someone needed rescue and they knew of it they would help - but, their first answer would be hike down. If an Observatory person or volunteer were to see someone out there who needs help, they would probably contact the on duty State Park person.

Just a thought, but perhaps the title of your post could have been slightly different. When I first saw it, I thought someone needed help and somehow posted to the forum. Just a thought.

Can't remember if it was a discussion here or with someone in person when visiting up there.. but what sticks in my head is someone saying that unless you are on the verge of death, the rule is, you hiked up so you need to hike down. The buildings are closed to the public, so just using them to pop inside to warm up is not an option. Hikers are to treat MW as any other summit in the region that has no facilities or services.

I'm sure there are observers that can comment and tell us stories of hikers seen huddled in the entryway to the building and such. However, when I finally head out on a winter ascent of MW (hopefully this season) I will pack and plan as if the Obs doesn't exist up top.
