2011 Mt Washington Auto Road Sunrise Drives

The dates are published and it is time to hold them on our calendars. The Sunrise Drives for 2011 are:

1. June 19, 2011
2. July 24, 2011
3. August 28, 2011

The July date is the day after STP 2011.

There are so many things packed in on the Auto Road's calendar for this year it must have been hard to schedule everything. The June date is not the last Sunday of the month.

The day before the June Sunrise Drive is the running Road Race. There are so many races this year it is hard to keep them straight. It would be fun to be up on the Road taking pictures on Saturday also. Chris, would you be up for that too?

We can work on that too. But, lets plan for you coming for the weekend and get some photog shooting in.

The 3 days before this we are doing a waterskiing clinic here on the lake in Maine. So, I am hoping to still be able to walk and move by then.

It all kicked off with a gathering on New Years Eve which ended with a great fireworks display shot off from their parking area beside the entrance to the Auto Road. Their estimate is that 600 people showed up for this - and totally surprised them with how many folks came out. One can do either for regular drives. I am not sure they use the vans for the Sunrise Drives though. I always drive myself - and stop several times up and down - and my own thing - whenever I drive up.

Even though it took forever for the sun to show through the clouds. I have to say, the June sunrise date was one of the best days of my vacation last year. Counting the days until my next camping trip and the 1st sunrise opening.

I thought I was going to die driving up that road with zippo visibility.
