About 5,300 Miles (in a brand new 2011 Subaru Outback...) :-)

As you may know, I have now taken part in the Mt. Washington Observatory's Seek the Peak fundraising hike-a-thon three years in a row. In 2010, due to a bit of well-placed luck, I won one of the top prizes - a one year lease of a brand new 2011 Subaru Outback!

Though I live in New Jersey, on Thursday, I will be flying out to Seattle to pick up my car, and drive it home. If the weather cooperates, I will hit at least seventeen states on my way back east!

I plan to share pictures and video via my blog as I make my way back across the country - should be a fun trip!

In answer to your question, just about everything! :-)

As you probably saw, I set up a blog for my trip and for my photography - http://blog.ecomalley.com - I'll probably post some pictures of the car once I get it. I used to have an Outback, and it never let me down.

Have you turned yours in yet? How many miles did you have on it?

My 12 months was up in December. So, I turned it in then. I was allowed 30,000 miles. So, one Friday evening I dropped the car off and said I would be back in the morning. In the morning I got there, grabbed the keys, noted the odometer reading, divided the difference from 30,000 in half, then drove up to Crawford Notch. When I got to the number of miles I turned around and drove back to Profile Subaru.

In their parking lot I took a picture of the odometer reading 30,000 miles and sent it off to Abana at Subaru headquarters in NJ. I got every last mile.
