First Cog - 2011 - Contest

The thread has been linked in the observers comments from today! Maybe this will bring more people in to guess when the first cog will come up the mountain and also bring more people to the forums of the site.

i hate to say this because it will not be good for me wining again this year but some of you picked days the train is not running . they only do weekends until may 28th then they start week day trips .
but if you want keep you date it is good with me lol

Since I have one of those non-weekend days, I would like to change my guess to May 31st...Memorial Day

I just looked again and it appears all but two of us picked a weekday while they are only doing weekends. Since this is the case, I'd like to switch my guess to the 22nd

I have a question......

Couldn't the Cog still go to the Summit without passengers and be seen in the North cam? Perhaps to make sure the tracks are clear and such??? If yes, then couldn't that happen anyday, not just on the weekends? The rules don't say we have to see passengers..

Anyone know the answer to my question? Does the Cog go to the Summit without passengers? If yes, I'm standing my ground with Friday the 13th....

Good point Karen. Rule 1 only states that "We must see a part of the cog in the image. Smoke is not sufficient". So you may be correct.

yes it does go to the summit but you have a better chance for the weekends at first .

why did i say any thing now i made it harder for me to win :-(

The cog could be going up any day of the week including days before it officially opens for passengers. They will certainly want to check out the tracks and do repairs. You have to see a portion of the cog (engine or car) in the North camera image.
