    Default A Twin Redemption - N Twin, S Twin, Galehead - 9-25-11

We had a wonderful day yesterday hiking the Twins and Galehead with Mike and Donna (a.k.a., Jimmy Legs and Little D). This made peaks #36, 37, and 38 for them - getting close to the finish! We've been trying to find a way to get together and hike with them for the last couple of years since we first started our exchanges on the forums. How great it was to finally make it work out! There are few things better than a spectacular late September day wandering around the peaks in the Whites - unless it's getting to do it with good friends.

The day actually had a rather sad ending. On their way back through Franconia Notch, Mike and Donna hit a moose. Mike and Donna are both fine but the moose (and their van) didn't fare as well. Details are in the trip report on my blog.

The whole story is here on my blog: http://theramblingsblog.blogspot.com...-galehead.html

    Default Nice!

One of the all-time great hikes in the Whites! Glad you got some views and glad you got to enjoy it with Mike and Donna! That said, I am very sorry for M&D, what an awful way to end a great day. I hope they can put the trauma behind them, I know I'd have nightmares. Thank goodness they weren't hurt physically. Sorry about the poor moose. We didn't stay in Lincoln Saturday after hiking for an engagement because I didn't want to drive home after dark. Can't see the moose until it's too late...

Only 10 more peaks to go, Mark! Awesome job. Looks like it was a really great day and hike! Wonderful Pics too!

Sorry to hear about Mike and Donna, but certainly thankful they were unharmed!

Very nice photos and TR Mark! Glad you had the opportunity to hike with Mike and Donna. Hiked with them a few years ago, and they are great people to be with.

So sorry to hear about the accident. Glad they are okay!!! Though it would suck to hit a moose anytime, it would be worse when you're 500 miles from home.

I never want to see a day
    That's over forty degrees
    I'd rather have it thirty,
Twenty, ten, five and let it freeeeEEEEEEeeze!

Thanks everyone. I appreciate the comments - it was a great day. Thanks especially for the concern for Donna and Mike.

Karl - the 38 is actually M&D. We're at 28 now. 20 to go is fine with me though - I'm looking forward to all of them.

Bob - you're so right about Donna and Mike. We spent 11 hours on the trail with them and the day went by in a flash. Great folks to share the trail with!

Fantastic trip report and pics. What a wonderful time it sounds and looks like you all had. Sorry to hear about Mike and Donna and I hope everything works out for them. Stinks about the Moose but thank God nobody got seriously hurt and a van can always be replaced.
