Last Friday, October 14, I was able to make it to Mt. Nittany in central PA for a hike. It had been another rainy day in PA, but it looked like it might be clearing up just in time for a sunset, so we headed to the mountain, which is a quick 20 minute hike to the main viewpoint.
At the trailhead parking, this tree was showing off its full fall colors...it was quite the sight!
Here is the trail as it switches back on its way to the viewpoint.
We arrived at the viewpoint just in time for a beautiful sunset over PA's ridge-and-valley region.
Here is the sun beginning to set over the Penn State University Park campus
Since we had a few minutes to spare before the real sunset, I ran to another viewpoint with northwest views over the PA countryside.
And finally the sunset we had been waiting for from the main viewpoint which has a westerly view over the campus.
