This was my first real "deep" winter hike. I used crampons from the start. We saw at least 10 people who skied up which blows my mind how physically demanding that must be. This hike just beat me up because of the wind and cold. The wind above treeline made a hard hike four times harder. It was unrelenting and was very hard to tolerate. I took many breaks. I didn't even take pictures which is a first. I was afraid of taking my mittens off. It was that cold. Lions head trail below tree line was slow hiking. I post holed a few times. A few times during yesterdays hike, I would think, what the hell am I doing this to my body. The day after my thinking is that I felt good about myself in being able to do this. There was a good many of people who were 30 years younger then me that found it hard also. I definitely would do this again even in similar conditions. I just feel that I would never get used to hiking under these type of conditions. Wine and the Patriots game was a treat after a hard hike.
