It is nice to have new members. If only we could get them to participate.

"hearse driver" joined the forum back in early March. His last login was over a month ago. Of the 10 or so members that joined just today, 9 are already banned because they are spammers. It looks like one might be a real person looking to participate...we'll see.

    Welcome, Hearse Driver!
Always glad to get new input here.
And a delayed welcome to Joey Keyz . . . I've seen your name popping up here and there. You're the one transplanted from NYC, yes? I, too, spent 6 years living in Manhattan - the lower East Side - when it was ruled by the gangs from Avenue A. I spent a lot of weekends getting out of Manhattan, backpacking in the Catskills, Adirondacks and Whites, as well as bicycling a lot - both in the city and out. My best performance was a 100 mile day. That's when I realized I could go anywhere on the bike - just box it up and put it on the train - hop out and go. Had a great tour of northern Vermont on a 2 week cruise from Mountpelier up to the border of Canada and back down. It was bizarre coming up out of Penn Station after that and bicycling home through the Manhattan streets. I still love the city - but now from a distance. I'm actually hoping to get back there for a visit some time this year. But overall, as great a city as Manhattan is, there is nothing like the wilderness. And out of all the places I've been, there's no place like the "Whites"!

To BillO - We can't all participate as often as we would like. Some of us are only able to browse and comment here and there. I wish I had more time to follow along, but work usually intrudes. And after spending 8 hours at the computer during the day, it's tough to go home and plug yourself in. I get here when I can and love catching up.
Kinda the same thing applies to Mt. Washington, too. I live in Connecticut and find it difficult to get up to the Whites as often as I'd like - IMPOSSIBLE to get up there as often as I'd LIKE! (That would be every weekend.)
But I'm glad to see some of you are regulars here in the Forum . . .

    Work intrudes . . . must go . . .

Work - work - work - and no play.

I know the feeling. we vacationed in Maine as a family for 21 years in a row and then bought a lot on the lake we had been vacationing at - designed our retirement home - and moved in - still working in NY and now in NC. That was the best thing we ever did. It shifted our focus to Maine and the outdoors and work was there, but it was not as important.
