How I Miss It!!

Here I am, in Sunny Florida and I was vacationing (working ) in Bethel, ME last year. Yesterday, on the news I saw the water turning to snow....damnit man....I so miss Mt. Washington!!

Anyone need a good accountant? I will move in a Florida minute!!!:

I would also take Mount Washington. One day soon the family will be packed up and off I will go to Mount Washington. Eastern Mountain Sports is always looking to hire. Honestly is there any place better to live than the Mount Washington area. I don't think so!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We would move to that area in a heartbeat, but my wife has been an educator in Fairfield County, CT for 15 years now. Pretty silly of her to give up THAT job! I figure the longer we hold out here, the nicer our retirement house will be up there!

Buy early - do not wait till retirement to buy. Prices are going up, up, up.

Yes, it Begins with Bora and ends with Bora. And it's called Bora Bora.

But for those of us without a French Carte de sejour the Mount Washington Valley isn't such a bad spot.

NH is not really tax free. Check out the property taxes. But the real thing that is going up is the price of vacation/retirement property. Our lot has more than tripled in value in 15 years.

In Florida (east coast by the ocean) property taxes are skyrocketing....and we pay sales tax of 7%. No individual taxes in Florida, but omg....can we please get back to a simpler life like that in ME and NH?

For years we lived/worked in NY and drove to Maine every weekend. As we crossed the bridge into Maine at Portsmouth/Kittery I used to take my watch off and put it in my pocket. There was no need for it. I was relaxed.

I went to Maine for 6 weeks...3 in summer, 3 in fall and the quiet, the stars, the atmosphere was incredible. We have the hustle and bustle here; always perpetually late (remember Alice in Wonderland??).

When we got to Maine, it was soooo quiet; I saw a MOOSE!!! I saw stars at night and the town closed up tight as a drum. You could walk the streets without fear of being mugged, before going, I had never seen the woods; well, some woodsy areas, but never ever got "lost" in the woods....

The nights were cool, sometimes even a bit cold, but the days were filled with views of mountains and water and wildlife.....

Now I sit in my a/c office daily, wearing shorts and tshirts, flip flops and wish I could again stand on top of mt. washington.....

So glad I found this site!!
