Question Determining temperature in Huntington Ravine gullies and Alpine Garden

    Hi!

Is there a rough formula that can be used for determining the temperature/conditions in the Huntington Ravine gullies and Alpine Garden, when knowing the summit conditions?

I went up Odell's on 01/21/2013, and would like to figure out what the temp was.

The following were the Mt. Wash conditions at the time:
    Date: 01/21/2013
    Time: 08:55am
    Wind: W 66 G 75
    Air: -15F
    Dwpt: -15
    Relative Humidity: 100%
    Wind Chill: -56F

    Thanks!

A rough guide would be 9.8C per 1,000m or 5.4F per 1,000ft which would work best in a windy/well mixed atmosphere. Otherwise, it could be all over the place.

You could also check the Auto Road vertical temperature profile

Its very poor forum etiquette to post a question and then disappear. How do I even know if you came back to read my answer. If that is the case, why would anybody want to respond. Not worth my time.

Thanks for the info Bill, I very much appreciate it.

I didn't get any email notification that my question was allowed in by moderator and I also didn't get any email notifications that there was a reply to it. I apologize for disappearing, I'm simply not used to this kind of forums where a question has to go through moderator.

    Thanks again!

    Best regards,
    -Pavel
