March Snowstorm

Looks like a decent storm is heading up the coast on Friday, with colder air moving into the region this afternoon.

This has the potential be the biggest storm of the season for Mount Washington, and maybe even New York City.

Hopefully we can jump right back into winter.

I guess I should be happy I bought that extra cord of wood so late in the season.

Hmmm - sitting at Dulles airport waiting for a flight to come in. Deciding whether we should drive up to Maine tonight. I would love to be there for the storm....

I'm REALLY hoping for some snow to fall. I'll be climbing Washington on Monday & staying at the OBS for the night. Having some nice snow will make the climb that much more enjoyable.

Drive quick. They are saying huge dump in New England starting tommorrow morning. If you leave early enough you will just make it. Been watching the weather all day. Should be biggest storm of the season if the weather channel is correct. Maine would be a great place to be riding out this storm.

Yeah, me I go to the summit tuesday and I hope there will be a big storm on the top to see a white summit, not a gray-rock summit

In CT it was in the 60's the other day and today we are getting a ton of snow....gotta love that New England weather......wait 5 minutes it will change...

I just drove back from Vermont. What a shame to leave before they get slammed by snow. We ran into heavy snow around Springfield, MA then mostly sleet south of Hartford. Still sleeting along the coast of CT with temps still falling.

A few hours ago I noticed the summit was reporting freezing drizzle at a temp of +5F. Amazing warm layer just above the peak.

After this weeks major thaw and rain I worry that the damage to the snowpack will be irreparable. It's going to be very difficult to get snow to stick to anything. The joys of a New England winter.

wanted to "run" up to whites to catch snow, but sleet tonight begs to keep us in...midnight now outside newhaven, and roads have been sleety/icy mess for hours...happy st. patrick's day...
