Does anybody know what happened on the summit? Their last ob into the NWS was at 10pm on the 16th, and their current conditions stopped reporting at 10:30pm. Webcams down too. Total meltdown of data coming from the top.

Could be a bad internet outage, but usually data gets to the NWS and they haven't had any updates.

By the looks of it we didn't miss much. Some disappointing snow totals from the summit, as usual in these storms. Quite an amazing warm up as well.

I figured it was an internet problem, but I was thinking worse. I remember a cold February morning when the webcams froze, the current conditions went blank and the NWS didn't get any data. The next thing I know I was reading about MWN on the national news.

Well, only a couple of inches for the summit today but sure has whitened things up again. Too bad it will all melt away tomorrow when the rain sets in. Up and down the rollercoaster we go I guess.

The problem was apparently caused by moisture getting into some RF connectors at the top of the tower when the temps went above freezing on the weekend. There are a couple of adapters outside near the antenna that convert from one size coax to another and they weren't totally waterproof. This coax feeds the antenna for the internet wireless link to the valley and was down till about 8:30pm on the 17th.
