For me its redundant, but it may help the other administrators. Generally, if I'm online I'm checking the forum so I'll see the spam. So when a report gets sent to my email I just have to do two things. Check my email than check the spam.

I've seen a system where the user has to get a secret code from a particular thread. Anyone who could read can figure it out, but it deters spammers because its one extra step and it can't be automated.

That system seems to work fairly well, at least it requires a human to look at it and type the response. Although spammer and human are not generally terms that I use together
