    Default Conditions on Tux Trail

    Tuckerman Ravine
    3,800 feet 31 °F
    (-1 °C) 37 °F
    (3 °C) 21 °F
    (-6 °C) 32" Tux trail encased in thick sheet of ice. Ice axe and crampons required above.


    uh oh. anyone been up recently?

    Looking at the ARVTP I think the bowl will soften up today. Even if it stays just below freezing the solar gain is significant this time of year. Just watch out for the shadows. When those start creeping into the ravine in the afternoon the snowpack will re-freeze very quickly.

    11am and I don't see any people in the bowl (on the webcam zoom). I'm sure there are people, but I don't see the big line up going up the major ski routes.

    i'll post the report and pics soon, but there was no line of people on Saturday. Bowl was frozen solid. more crashes than anything else. sunday was better.
