View from Gorham

Took some shots Friday from an unnamed knoll just off the Mahoosuc Trail in Gorham. You cross the trestle on Rte. 16 then go around the canal and up the trail. We were on our way to Mount Hayes to kill time before we were to meet up with people in Rangeley, but didn't have enough time to finish the climb to Hayes. This is from the knoll above the Mascot Mine Natural Area. Sounds funny, huh? A former mine being a natural area. The trail, although still snow, was getting quite slushy by then. I can't get the pictures to look decent by posting them here. Sorry, I just can't get the knack of it. Will post a link tomorrow. KDT

That is why I direct folks to www.fotki.com - it is easy to deal with. They provide uploading capabilities - you can pick the one you like. You can use a client like SmartFTP to send a batch of picture files (I have done 900 in one pass once). And once the pictures are up you can copy and move them easily within an album and across to other albums and folders.

I have a few albums set up with associated e-mail addresses. So, if I am in a hurry or have a picture on my cell phone, I can e-mail the picture to that address and it will be added to the album for me. This is handy when driving down a narrow road in England - take a picture with the cell phone - e-mail it to the Fotki site - and others in the U.S. are watching for the pictures. Oh, maybe I should not be doing this as I am driving on the left side of the road ...

These are both great resources for posting pictures and I appreciate the comments. Of course you know I have a website where I post my photos. What I am having trouble with, and I know this has been covered before so please excuse my repetition of the subject, is adding embedded photos to my messages, as Joey, Brad and Forest Gnome do in theirs. 29 kb just gives me a lousy picture, not worth posting, how do you others do it?

With Fotki there is a choice of images sizes to grab. So, the size displayed here is based on the size of the original image file pointed to.



The original file scrolls way off the screen on the right.
