Is anyone familiar with Trails.com? If so what do you think of it and is it worth joining because it costs $$$ to join.

Is there really any BAD weather???
I really do not like paying for access to sites when I know the same information is available elsewhere for free. The site's value is to put it in one place. With Internet search capabilities today I would go the free route.
LL Bean used to have a great section on the US National parks. The Park Service has a great site. Here is one that appears to be good http://gorp.away.com/gorp/resource/u..._park/main.htm
The one area on Trails.com that is nice is the topo maps. But, I have Topo USA 6.0 from Delorme in Freeport, Maine. I can do road routes for driving - plug into my GPS in the car - use it with a Bluetooth GPS - it supports downloading maps to Palm or pocket PC format - and does trail routes & profiles. I believe this is a more flexible solution.

It seems like they should be able to make money by advertising. I'm in no rush to pay for a service like that.
That's what I was thinking but just wanted to hear it from someone else. Thanks!
