Forecast Discussion

The high pressure that been mentioned in the past few forecasts will finally make itself known on the summits. The ridge of high pressure that is building from the west will continue to usher in much drier air, and the summits should be in the clear under mostly clear skies through tonight, into tomorrow morning. Winds will remain quite strong and gusty today. An intensifying low pressure system in the north eastern Atlantic and a complex low pressure system approaching from the west will aid in squishing the isobars closer together. Winds will begin to diminish towards evening, and will reach a low point tomorrow, as the high crests over the region. As winds shift to the west, they will bring in some higher level moisture, and clouds will begin to increase late tomorrow, in anticipation of the next weather maker. Wind chill values will be on the rise as winds continue to dampen and temperatures continue to rise. All the sunshine and above freezing temperatures will melt much of the rime and snow that has accumulated on the higher summits over the past few days.
