Low pressure will depart into the Canadian Maritimes today, while a weak cold front approaches and stalls out over New England. Fog during the morning may briefly break up as a low pressure system offshore pulls away from the region. However, a frontal boundary will subsequently approach behind this exiting low, which will increase instability and spark afternoon showers and a few thunderstorms. The front will stall out later today, keeping intermittent fog in the forecast through the overnight hours. An upper-level ridge will begin to build in later tonight, allowing skies overhead to commence a clearing trend. The surface ridge will catch up to its upper-level counterpart tomorrow, which again will provide breaks in the fog with peaks of sun possible. Temperatures will rebound back to above-normal levels tomorrow, pressing into the mid 50s by afternoon.
