Go behind the scenes of our famous mountaintop weather station and get a taste for what it's like to live and work at 6,288 feet!
These guided tours allow you to meet and interact with our scientists, learn how they create forecasts, see the instruments they use to capture Mount Washington's legendary extremes, and more.
Our mountaintop facility is a working weather station, so advanced reservations are required. Though we try our best to accommodate all requests, we appreciate your understanding that we may not always be able to conduct a tour during your requested time.
To schedule a tour, please call (603) 356-2137, ext. 211, or email education@mountwashington.org.
Our weather station is located on the summit of Mount Washington inside Mt. Washington State Park. For directions to Mt. Washington State Park, please see our Visitor Information page.
Once at the summit, proceed inside the Mt. Washington State Park Visitor Center and check in with the attendant at our Mount Washington Museum (located in the lower level of the building). The attendant will direct you on where to meet your tour. If you arrive after your scheduled tour has departed, we will do our best to accommodate you on the next available tour.
Tours are free for supporting members of Mount Washington Observatory. Family memberships include tours for all individuals living under one roof. Club Level members may bring guests.
Non-members wishing to tour the station may purchase a membership online (at least one week in advance), or in person at the summit.
By advance arrangement, group tours are available for a fee of $7 per person. A minimum of 8 people is required and capacity is limited to a maximum of 14 people. All tours must be paid for on the summit at the time of the tour.
To schedule a tour, please call (603) 356-2137, ext. 211, or email education@mountwashington.org.
